Good thing the stove top was clean…

I took December off work, and one of the joys of an extended absence is seeing how much (or, sadly, how little) things have changed while you were gone. The big difference was the food court got a McDonalds, which as a vegan I wasn’t too thrilled about. What made things worse was that they took out about 30 seats from the food court to make room for the inevitable massive lineups that would no doubt occur when people got back from their holidays, ’cause, you know, McD rules the world. Anyway, I stopped by the food court today, and the seats are back now. I don’t plan on sitting near the stench, but it will make more room at the other end of the hall… Silly McEgo.

I got one of those executive registry things in the mail today. At first I dismissed it as a really stupid mailing list that tries to make itself sound prestigious so you’ll want to be on it, but then I read further – “Inclusion is limited to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, or achievement in their occupation, industry or profession”. I took this to my boss so I could prove my worth and get a 6 figure raise, but he read beyond the bits I’d cleverly highlighted to the part that said “you will be listed among thousands of other highly accomplished individuals”… The letters are funny, they even try to suggest you’re getting into some kind of “who’s who” book (just not the famous one). I can picture some people sending in updates whenever something in their life changes…

Holy crap. Went to the gym, went to work, fixed some stuff, went to an after-work party, went to two art show openings, went to see a band, posted three stories on Vegan Porn, plus managed to add about 30 things to the to do list. So yeah, I’m not going to get the comments fixed tonight… It seems like the preview and error templates are messed up, which means not ugly, just not there. Some kind of “build error”. Has anyone seen this? Please email me if you have any tips…

Ok, I’m nowhere near as anti-COM as I was yesterday, and in fact I’m a bit more pro-ATL for those of you that are keeping score. If you’re already keeping score, why not make up words that fit COM and ATL acronyms and laugh and laugh… If you think acronyms are bad, check this out – I found this in some documentation: Anti-moniker The inverse of a file, item, or pointer moniker. An anti-moniker is added to the end of a file, item, or pointer moniker to nullify it. Anti-monikers are used in the construction of relative monikers. See also Relative Moniker. A Relative Moniker would be “Dad”.

Ok, I’m starting another business. It’s called “don’t buy what I buy”. This will be a newsletter for investors that basically says what stocks I’m going to buy in a given week, because watch out, they’re gonna drop heavily as soon as I do. Nope, not bitter, long term planning, oh yeah, I’ll be laughing in 2084. This concept seems to also apply to technology purchases at a rate that exceeds the industry norm. I have no choice but to conclude that I have incredible powers. Incredible bad shopping powers, but powers just the same. So yeah, watch your mailboxes for the “oh crap, he’s gonna buy…” newsletter. This way, I could actually make money from a lifetime of bad purchasing decisions, thus ensuring a cushy government job.

Well, people kept going to HermanThrust.com despite my complete lack of attention to it over the past several months, so I’ve decided to finally do something with it. I’ve got Moveable Type going, so let’s see what happens. All the old stuff is still on the server, but I’ve decided to go with a single site this time instead of the, what, 5 old versions hanging around, so please be patient. I’ve moved the match or not bit over for now, the rest will follow, hopefully a few each week. Updated – comments aren’t working, I don’t know why, but if Vegan Porn is any indication, comments aren’t essential right now anyway…
